I am a Black and White Hanging Vase. I'm open-minded, although, have a tendency to blur the lines. I'll hang around, but promise I won't keep you hanging.
Finished in contrasting black and white overglaze, this piece with its painterly surface, feels caught between sculpture and vase. The white glaze gently spills across the darker half, which softens the geometry and creates a sense of motion - a moment caught in time. The blocky structure feels reminiscent of brutalist architecture. Within the small opening carved into the front, flowers can be added from what first appears to be a solid sculptural object, bringing the vase to life and softening the piece.
